We participate with most major insurance plans and extend patient hardship discounts consistent with the policies of the hospitals and laboratories we serve. It is our objective to receive reasonable compensation for services provided while not being an obstacle to our patients’ access to care.

Why Patients Receive Two or More Bills
Most services provided by Excelsior Pathology are in coordination with hospital laboratories and independent laboratories. The laboratories provide services and invoice patients and the patients’ insurance companies for their laboratory equipment, supplies, and staffing services. The laboratory services are considered the “technical component” of pathology laboratory services.
Excelsior Pathology’s pathologists provide consultative and interpretive physician services for the specimens processed by the laboratories. The pathologists’ services are considered the “professional component” of services provided which are invoiced separately to patients and the patients’ insurance companies for the physician services provided.
